Twenty years of wells, in plan view.

Venturo's map places every well in the dataset over satellite imagery, with directional trajectories, fluid and maturity overlays and provincial boundaries. Select with a polygon, zoom with a rectangle, measure with the ruler and find any well by name. Here, wells appear in the month they started producing, from January 2006 to July 2026.

96.3% of laterals at least 1 km long with a plan-view trajectory run within ±15° of north–south (1,607 of 1,669).

Filter the way you think.

In the Viewer you build your population with attribute trees (operator, field, concession, province, well type and status, lift method, hydrocarbon window, campaign) and ranges on variables such as lateral length, stages, proppant, 12-month Np or peak rate. What you pick on the map, in the list or in a chart is one selection across the whole dashboard.

Vaca Muerta formation-level production. Month 1: first month with positive production. Monthly cohort percentiles. Arps least-squares fit on ln q, from the peak month to month 36; not extrapolated.

A formation, not a field.

Vaca Muerta is both source rock and reservoir. It was laid down in a Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous sea some 149 to 137 million years ago, among ammonites and ichthyosaurs. Charles E. Weaver named it in 1931 after the Sierra de la Vaca Muerta, where it crops out; the first unconventional discovery only came in 2010. Its oil and gas sit in tiny pores, which is why wells are drilled horizontally and fractured in stages. In July 2026, 99.2% of the dataset's oil came from this rock.

Three notes before you go on.

What you're looking at. Public data on unconventional wells in the Neuquén Basin: 4,677 wells, with monthly production since 2006. 3,383 have Vaca Muerta among their formations; the rest are assigned to others, such as Lajas or Mulichinco.

What you do. Find wells on the map, build a selection with filters or a polygon, and see it in History, Cumulatives, Type Well, ABC Plot and Histogram. Everything shares one selection.

What it doesn't do. It doesn't modify the source: the base is fixed and read-only. It isn't real-time: it's updated monthly. It holds no private customer data. Like any public source, it may have gaps, delays or revisions.

This page stores nothing in your browser either: whatever you find here is forgotten on reload.

La Cocina ("the kitchen") is the basal level of Vaca Muerta: 30 to 40 m, with 6 to 8% total organic carbon in Loma Campana (Vittore et al., 2018). Many laterals are steered in the Orgánico just above; this well lands a little deeper. The basin's organic matter was "cooked" by burial: more to the west, where there is gas, than to the east, where there is oil.
